A perfect weekend in Bandung

Arrive on Friday afternoon and settle in with a slow evening on the lower terrace as the city lights flicker on below the 12-seat marble dining table. On Saturday morning, wander through the nursery garden with a coffee before driving down to Dago Street for brunch, factory outlets and gallery-hopping around Lawangwangi. Spend the afternoon at Tahura Djuanda Forest Park — the rainforest trails and Dutch-era caves are cool and shaded even on warm days. Return to the villa for a BBQ, karaoke and stargazing. On Sunday, drive up to Lembang for the volcano views and hot springs at Maribaya before an unhurried check-out.

For families

Bandung is one of Indonesia's most family-friendly destinations. With four bedrooms across four levels and two outdoor terraces, Villa Yucca comfortably absorbs multi-generational groups. Base yourselves here and mix easy villa mornings with day trips to Farmhouse Lembang for the petting farm and photo gardens, Dusun Bambu for lakeside dining and outdoor play, and Kawah Putih's white crater lake for older children. Back at the villa, Netflix, karaoke, board games and the walled garden make evenings easy for parents.

For couples & groups

The master bedroom occupies the whole mezzanine under a pitched timber ceiling, framed by picture windows over Bandung — the villa's most romantic room. For larger groups, spread out across the four bedrooms with everyone getting their own ensuite. Book a candlelit dinner at Mercusuar Cafe and Resto, take a slow morning drive through the tea plantations, and spend an afternoon at Tangkuban Perahu volcano followed by a natural hot-spring soak. Return to the villa for BBQ and wine on the terrace as the sun drops behind the ridges.

Cafés worth the drive

Bandung's café culture is legendary. Mercusuar Cafe and Resto for sweeping views, Lawangwangi Creative Space for art and coffee on a cliff-edge terrace, Armor Kopi hidden inside Djuanda forest, and De.u Coffee Dago for traditional Sundanese food and warm ginger drinks. All are within a fifteen-minute drive.

Seasonal events

Bandung is comfortable year-round thanks to its highland climate. The dry season from May to September is ideal for hiking and outdoor cafés. October to April brings warm afternoons and dramatic evening storms — perfect for slow days at the villa. Watch for the Braga Culinary Night and Asia Africa Festival in downtown Bandung, and jazz nights around Dago through the cooler months.

Rainy day ideas

When the afternoon rain rolls in, head to Paris Van Java Mall for shopping and cinema, Museum Geologi for kids, or spend an unhurried afternoon browsing books and coffee at Kineruku. The villa itself is designed for it — cook together in the kitchen, curl up with Netflix, or sing your way through the karaoke library.

Hidden gems
